Cypher Genomics Appoints J. Patrick Ravenel Chief Technology Officer

Rapid, Robust and Secure Technology Is Key for Genomics at Scale

SAN DIEGOOctober 1, 2014 – Cypher Genomics, Inc., the genome informatics company, announced today the appointment of J. Patrick Ravenel as chief technology officer. Ravenel has more than 20 years of enterprise software and systems experience and a proven track record of designing and architecting solutions for Fortune 500 companies.

Ravenel will help advance Cypher’s MantisTM, genome interpretation software as a service offering, and CoralTM, a biomarker discovery service. Designed for pharmaceutical companies, clinical laboratories and to support population genomics efforts, Cypher’s fast, accurate and robust genome interpretation and analysis technologies facilitate differentiated molecular tests, efficient clinical trials and enable precision therapeutic decisions.

J. Patrick Ravenel is a major contributor to the design, development and deployment of high-performance distributed computing solutions. His career has focused on high performance financial trading, commercial electronic data interchange (EDI), security, compliance and analytic systems. He was previously vice president of software development at MedImpact Healthcare Systems. Prior to MedImpact, he had successful exits (both acquisition and IPO) as a co-founder and a director in the areas of security and distributed transactional caching environments. In addition to his published papers, articles and book contributions, Mr. Ravenel has four patents in information security and automated compliance management. He holds a B.A. in applied mathematics and scientific programming from the University of California, San Diego.
